The 2020 recipients of the Msgr. Robert Feehan Faithful Servant Award are Loren and Judy DeWitz. They are both involved in many ways here at St. Mary’s, whether it is through their service as ushers, Eucharistic Ministers, as a lector, bringing Holy Communion to the homebound, as a member of the Altar Society, and more.
In 2014, they were leaders in the remodeling project of the multi-purpose room kitchen. Once the project was complete, they also painted the entire kitchen. This past year, Loren installed an industrial dishwasher in the kitchen, allowing the multi-purpose room to now be used for larger funeral luncheons.
Judy spends countless hours as the coordinator and scheduler for all of our ushers, ensuring that our Masses on Sundays and Holy Days are fully staffed. On every Friday afternoon from May to October, you can count on Loren mowing the entire parish and school grounds with his own equipment using his own gas—completely volunteering his service to ensure our parish grounds are kept beautiful for the upcoming weekend Masses.
Since 2013, the Msgr. Robert Feehan Faithful Servant Award is given to recognize and honor St. Mary’s parishioners who have demonstrated outstanding dedication and service to our parish family. The award is given in honor of Msgr. Robert Feehan, who faithfully served as our parish’s pastor for nearly 50 years. He became our pastor in 1933, at the age of 35, and served until his death on September 9, 1981, at the age of 83—serving 13 years past the normal retirement age for priests.
Congratulations to Loren and Judy, and thanks to all of you who so generously serve our parish
